Turbo Browser – Not an IE Alternative, a Windows Explorer Alternative
Review by on
By looking at this FileStream Inc-developed application’s name, you would be tempted to think something along the lines “oh, this must be a web browser, an alternative to Internet Explorer (IE), the web browser included in the Windows operating system since 1995”. You would be wrong in thinking Turbo Browser is an alternative to Microsoft’s web browser.

You see, Turbo Browser is actually an alternative to another utility Microsoft built into the Windows operating system. Turbo Browser is an alternative to Windows Explorer, the file manager that’s been a part of Windows since Microsoft rolled out Windows 95.

The interesting thing about Turbo Browser is that it combines the functionality of a file manager with the functionality of a photo editing application. Here’s what you can expect to get from Turbo Browser, should you decide to get the application and put it to the test:

- Simple, easy to figure out interface.
- Browse and organize your files.
- Preview image files, Word documents, PDF files, and other file types without opening them. The application supports internal viewing of more than 200 formats.
- Edit images: crop, rotate, adjust the color, adjust the brightness, remove red eyes, and other options.
- Built-in HTML editor FTP client
- Mark or tag your frequently used or favorite files with a Star so you can quickly pull them out when you need them.
- Organize Wizard that lets you organize your photos by name, event, time, or location.
- Group rename, batch print, archive photos.
- Burn data onto a CD or DVD

Before you go get Turbo Browser and put it to the test, take a look at the technical details presented below:
Download – the download weighs in at 4.4Mb.
Supported OS – at the time of writing this and according to the developer, Turbo Browser provides support for Windows 2000, XP, 2003 Server, Vista, 2008 Server, and Windows 7.
Limitations – you can use Turbo Browser free of charge for a trial period of 30 days. Once that trial period is over, you will have to get a license to keep using the application.

Because it combines file management capabilities with basic image editing capabilities, HTML editing and FTP capabilities, Turbo Browser is an interesting alternative to Windows Explorer.

Pros
  • Easy to use
  • Preview a wide range of files
  • Basic image editing
  • HTML editor
  • FTP client
  • Works with Windows 7

Cons
  • Free to try (30-day trial)
